A Decade of Alignment Across Programs, Operations, and Development

Over a decade in social services, I’ve moved from frontline shelter worker to executive leadership.

The common thread across those roles has been bridging silos, making sure Programs, Operations, and Development aren’t speaking past each other.

This can create misalignment, a Three-Headed Monster.

  • Programs x Operations: Helped program staff track daily activity in ways Ops could use to plan staffing, training, and supply chains.

  • Operations x Development: Shared inventory and cost data so fundraising appeals matched actual needs.

  • Programs x Development: Worked with case managers to capture stories and outcomes that funders valued, without distracting staff from their work.

 

What that looked like was three departments finally speaking the same

language.
